Inspirational Quote

“I had become a new person; and those who knew the old person laughed at me. The only man who behaved sensibly was my tailor: he took my measure anew every time he saw me, whilst all the rest went in with their old measurements and expected them to fit me.”
-George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950) Man and Superman, 1903

I love this quote! What a fabulous reminder. I was chatting with Marya earlier and we realized we do it to ourselves in certain situations!! We assume we will react or feel the same way we have in the past. Hmmm...keeing ourselves stuck. Fascinating!

I read this quote to my husband this week. He is having difficulty with one of his friends - they are both changing but not in parallel ways. I think in ways they both keep trying to fit the old way because they remember it fondly, it just doesn't fit who they are now. It may be time for them to decide to "agree to disagree" or for both of them to move on...
